چکیده
An electrical power system (EPS) is subject to unexpected events that might cause the outage of elements such as transformers, generators, and transmission lines. For this reason, EPS should be able withstand failure one these without changing its operational characteristics; operativity functionality called N−1 contingency. This paper proposes a methodology for optimal location sizing parallel static Var compensator (SVC) in an reestablish stability conditions before contingencies take place. The system’s analyzed using fast voltage index (FVSI) criterion, SVC determined by also considering lowest possible cost. research considers involving disconnection Then, analyzes every scenario which line disconnected. them, algorithm finds weakest comparing FVSI values (the higher FVSI, closer instability); afterward, when selected, brute force, with 5 Mvar 100 Mvars steps applied sending bus bar line. value capable reestablishing each line’s pre-contingency while bus-bar’s profile having cost selected solution. proposed was tested on IEEE 14, 30, 118 bars case studies contingency prior outage, indicates performs 100% accuracy. Additionally, profiles were reestablished their values, some cases, they even than original values. Finally, results achieved single solution unique located under all scenarios.

A Novel Line Stability Index (NLSI) for Voltage Stability Assessment of Power Systems
The management of power systems has become more difficult than earlier because power systems are operated closer to security limits, environmental constraints restrict the expansion of transmission network, the need for long distance power transfer has increased and fewer operators are engaged in the supervision and operation of power systems. Voltage stability has become a major concern in man...
متن کاملA Novel Index for Online Voltage Stability Assessment Based on Correlation Characteristic of Voltage Profiles
Abstract: Voltage instability is a major threat for security of power systems. Preserving voltage security margin at a certain limit is a vital requirement for today’s power systems. Assessment of voltage security margin is a challenging task demanding sophisticated indices. In this paper, for the purpose of on line voltage security assessment a new index based on the correlation characteristic...
متن کاملA New Method for Considering Distribution Systems in Voltage Stability Studies
In methods presented to calculate the voltage collapse point, the transmission system is usually the only part of the power system that is completely modeled. Distribution systems are often replaced by aggregate load models because the use of the detailed model of distribution systems in voltage stability analysis not only increases the computation time, but also decreases the probability of co...
